Every successful team has great veteran presence, the one or two players who take on an assistant coaching role, and for the superstar-laden Los Angeles Lakers, that player is 34-year-old forward Jared Dudley.
The intense and enthusiastic Dudley, who signed with LA during the off-season, took some time to describe his role while carefully watching warmups before a game versus Chicago.
“My role is to provide a good locker room presence,” Dudley said. “I help mentor Kyle Kuzma, and give advice to LeBron and Anthony Davis, Danny Green and Avery Bradley, based on what I see out there. Basically I’m an assistant coach.”
