The Cancer Research Classic is one of the top-rated events of the year. Hosted in Wheeling, West Virginia, the two-day event will feature plenty of games you won’t want to miss. More than half of the teams are ranked within the Top 25.
Let’s dive-in and view some of the top individuals and teams:
1) Norcross vs. Montverde
Friday | 6:00pm EST
A Saturday afternoon showdown between five-stars, Brandon Boston (Norcross) and Cade Cunningham (Montverde) will headline another exciting week of high school hoops. Boston, a junior wing, and Cunningham, a junior guard/forward, are both Top 10 players in the country and will surely put on a show for fans. There might not be a better positional matchup this year.
In a first round game at the Chick-Fil-A Classic, Boston had 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. He was also impressive in a battle against Discovery (GA) where he accounted for 27 points and double-digit rebounds. Boston is a prolific scorer, but what makes him especially lethal is his ability to contribute in every aspect of the game.
Cunningham continues to light up the stat sheets. He is currently averaging more than 17 points per game. In a big contest against Sunrise Christian (KS) in early December, Cunningham went for 18 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
On the recruiting front, Boston holds offers from the likes of Duke, Kansas, Alabama and Auburn. Cunningham features a Top 4 of: LSU, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, and Kansas. Needless to say, both players can go anywhere they want and it’s easy to see why.
Norcross and Montverde possess plenty more stars on their teams. For Norcross, USC commit Kyle Sturdivant and Xavier commit Daniel Ramsey look to prove they can compete against Montverde.
Fellow five-star prospect Precious Achiuwa is a strong and physical presence. Moses Moody, Omar Payne and Balsa Kopravica are also Cunningham’s running mates and look to show why Montverde is still the most talented team in the country.
Other Notable Games:
